Yeah sorry, it's my fault we aren't getting any rain. And I'm going to withhold my prayers until I get a ransom of 1 million ... I mean, 100 billion dollars! Muhahahahahahaha!
I was shocked to read your opinion about God. I know that it was a while ago, but I felt like saying something. I realy hope that you have changed your mind by now. I come from another country and I could not believe that so many Australians deny the existance of God. That is your answer if you wondered why Australia is not blessed with enough rain. You should take at heart what Russel wrote. If you stand in front of God one day, you can not claim that you didn't know, anymore. You've been informed. Russel has done his part as a Christian.
If, in the completely impossible situation where I do find myself standing in-front of an all-seeing, all-knowing, all-doing being that doesn't exist, I am going to be far less concerned with what I do or do not know than I will be with giving it a piece of my mind about the opportunity it has completely squandered and the misery it has caused.
Let's face it Ansie: if your god actually exists (and I don't think for even a /second/ that he does), then he or she is either an incredibly cruel bastard, or has long since left us to our own devices.
Not happening here, the last half of today has been rain. Hello from Tullah, Tasmania. http://tullah.fit2.bur.st/
WRT conscience, I remembered something about that and went hunting. Well, blundering around, to be honest. (-: I think you'd like Matthew 5:45 (see homepage link). Get your rain faddist to explain that one... oh, wait, it's Johnny... never mind...
I believe that maybe God just wants us to ask & have Faith that He can bring us rain even when weather reports do not predict it. God can part the Red Sea, He can make it rain, maybe we just have to believe.
Blasphemy!
I've been praying that our Lord and Master, the Flying Spaghetti Monster will use His Noodly Appendage to loosen up some of our clouds and was rewarded with some rain this afternoon. He clearly works in mysterious ways. Anyway, I proved long ago that prayer cannot work. Howard's being a populist dick.
Praying for rain is one thing but what is more revelant is why would our Maker withhold his blessings from us.
If you answer this and fix the problem... maybe His blessings will begin to flow. Doesn't He already know what we need before we ask. The Bible holds the answers to these questions.....and it is clear from it's contents that we as a people become stubborn and arrogant in our ways... the more we prosper. Our ways deviate from the ten commandmants to such a degree that our Creator intervenes in a serious way. You can blame climate change and maybe this has it's impact....but who can bring good seasons regardless of climate change. Only our Maker. If you have no belief in a Creator than life has no meaning.....a meaningless life in a second of eternity. That is depressing. So by all means pray for rain ...but more to the point...what are we doing in return.
What a spiteful old bastard your God is, Russell.
Oh well. Oh, BTW, probably not a good idea to suggest that people that don't hold your belief lead a meaningless existance. Not a great way of winning arguments. Unless you are taking the piss of course. I never can tell.
In fact He is loving. No different if you let a child get their own way.
If a parent doesn't discipline their child in love when needed... what type of child will they become. It is our lack of understanding of what is good for us that propels us to complain. Death comes to all of us. We have no choice. We had no choice into what family we were to be born...but we can choose to understand our Makers ways. I choose to try to understand His ways better so that when I need correction I can understand better the benefits of that correction. What you choose is your choice....but i would encourage you to seek out your Maker and submit to His wishes in your life. He created you...He has a plan for you. I pray it will be a noble one.
hallelujah! I have seen the way!
I shall submit to his noodliness a sacrafice of bolognaise sauce!
TimC has a point. Isnt like Night of the Iguana where the reverend shannon says, you have destroyed the god of love and erected in his place a petulant old man, a senile deliquent who hates everything he has created. Why does God want to withhold rain unless we flatter him. Why on earth would he want to do that. Why does god want to behave like a bitter old man in a nursing home, who throws the checkerboard on the floor in a temper tantrum when he starts losing.
You gotta admit, it looks like it worked - just ask any Novocastrian.
